2007: More of the Same or Something Different?

And what will the year 2007 bring to our little planet Earth and all its endangered critters? Will their be a leap in consciousness at long last or a continual decline in intelligence? Will we end the US war in Iraq or start another one in Iran? Will America wake up and oust its infantile president or continue to reward corporate criminals? Will small and sustainable become cool or amassing wealth and big, shiny suburban assault vehicles remain status quo? Will folk protest music become hip and hip hop not? Will baggy butt-crack pants be replaced with trousers and button-down shirts? Will boomers and old hippies finally awaken from our yuppified stupor and start working for peace and brotherhood again or will we just keep consuming and snoozing in our Lazyboys? Will I continue to be cynical and ashamed of my species or truly learn to believe that all sentient beings are precious and here again and again to wake up to the vastness of being?

May all mother sentient beings boundless as the sky have happiness and the causes of happiness.
May they be liberated from suffering and the causes of suffering.
May they never be separated from the happiness that is free from sorrow.
May they rest in equinimity free from attachment and aversion.

Peace, love and pass the bong...or the broccoli.
