Valhalla Ballroom: An Akashic View from the Graveyard

It was a glorious day, 8/22/15, to reunite with my family at Valhalla Cemetery in Burbank prior to my high school reunion that evening. The gravestone reads: Whitlock—George, Georgia, John and Marylou—my grandfather, grandmother, uncle and mother. There are two other family members who also reside in the vicinity—my father, Eric E. Stone, and uncle, Don Whitlock. However, the latter two do not have any identifying markers, as their ashes arrived later to the site.

I placed a towel upon the grass and set myself down amongst five Whitlocks and a Stone. I am most identified with Stone and the Swedish side rather than the English/German side of my mother. My dad changed his name, upon arriving in this country, from Stenberg which means “one who comes from Stone Mountain”. Though I'm married to a Holland with German ancestry, I will carry Stone to my own grave or endpoint, wherever that may be.

I sat Buddha-like while my long-time friend, Hollis, stood by as witness and support. I then opened my Akashic Records to check in with the ancestors. After reciting the opening prayer that serves as the “access code”, I was playfully greeted by the light beings referred to as the Masters, Teachers and Loved Ones. It is always a joyful experience to make contact with my spiritual guides.

I envisioned seeing the numinous light beings escorting Marylou and Eric into a luminescent circle. I was brought to tears as I saw my parents looking youthful, vibrant and elegantly dressed. I followed them into a large ballroom where they proceeded to dance, a la dancing-with-the-stars, to 40s big band music. In scoping out the band I saw my brother, Glenn, recently deceased, playing clarinet with my favorite and “crazy” Uncle Don as bandleader. Don so loved Glenn Miller and his orchestra! I was greatly touched by this spirited scene where all were linked by the sway of music in a place of timelessness and resonance. The sweet finale was seeing my deceased Australian ex-husband, Roger, dressed in tails as the manager and official greeter of the venue. I appreciate that he stopped by for my benefit or to offer a giggle.

I felt so graced to be reunited with my beloved family to see them in their wholeness and happiness in the Halls of Valhalla. That was their gift to me and to reconfirm that death is but another doorway into new life. My gift to them was calling them into my heart through love and remembrance.

The 'heaven' of the Norsemen
and the hall where you went when you died a heroic death
Lo there do i see my father.
Lo there do i see my mother, my sisters, and my brothers.
Lo there do i see the line of my people back to the beginning.
They do call for me,
They bid me take my place among them in the halls of Valhalla, where the brave may live forever.
—quote from 13th Warrior starring Antonio Banderas
